Imperial French line battalion, 1807-1813

Imperial French line battalion, 1807-1813

This battalion pack represents the Imperial French Army following the crucial 1807 uniform reforms, when the distinctive cylindrical shako replaced the bicorne hat for all line infantry. From Friedland through the Peninsula, Russia, and German campaigns of 1813, these soldiers became the iconic image of Napoleon's Grande Armée.

More info

In this pack are the fusiliers that formed the battalion’s backbone - four centre companies combining disciplined volleys with bayonet charges. Grenadiers were the elite right flank company, distinguished by bearskins or plumed shakos. Voltigeurs, the light infantry left flank, skirmished ahead of the main line with their superior marksmanship. The bronze eagles, blessed by Napoleon himself, represented France's honour.

The Eagle Bearer and his guard were chosen from the most reliable veterans. For gaming flexibility, a standard bearer represents 2nd, 3rd, or 4th battalions, as only the 1st battalion carried the sacred eagle.

This pack provides a complete march attack formation of 32 figures in close order, with additional skirmishers, command elements, and specialists for realistic tabletop Napoleonic tactics. Refight Wagram, Talavera, Borodino and Leipzig with the classic French appearance that dominated European battlefields until 1815.
