More info

The greatcoat became a universal campaign dress during these years, protecting against bitter cold in winter and cool relief in summer, compared to the tight-fitting habit-veste. Chronic supply issues meant the greatcoat increasingly served as the proxy uniform for extended operations.

These line battalions formed Napoleon's backbone, with Fusiliers comprising the four centre companies trained in close-order drill and disciplined volleys. Grenadiers maintained their elite status as the right flank company, while Voltigeurs provided crucial light infantry capability on the left. The eagle bearer carried the sacred standards that inspired fierce loyalty even in defeat, while the port fannion marked battalion positions during complex maneuvers. Officers, hardened by years of campaigning, led by example through the Empire's most testing period.

This pack provides a complete line battalion of 38 figures, comprising 32 figures in march attack for close-order formations and six skirmishers for dispersed fighting, capturing the determined resilience of Napoleon's infantry during the Empire's final campaigns.
