Historical Context

This battalion represents Prussian line infantry following Scharnhorst's reforms - the professional core of the army that rose from Jena's ashes to defeat Napoleon. After humiliation in 1806, Prussia rebuilt its military with new tactical doctrines, universal conscription, and burning desire for revenge.

The battalion structure reflects the Krümper system that circumvented French-imposed size limits - rotating trained men back to civilian life while bringing new recruits through, building a hidden reserve that exploded into full strength in 1813. From Leipzig to Waterloo, these battalions proved that Prussia had learned from defeat - Blücher's infantry pursued Napoleon with relentless determination until final victory.
