Historical Context

This battalion represents Prussian Jägers - elite light infantry recruited from men already skilled with firearms through hunting and forestry work. Armed with rifled weapons rather than smoothbore muskets, Jägers could engage targets at ranges impossible for line infantry, making them invaluable for reconnaissance, screening, and picking off enemy officers. 

Prussian Jäger battalions operated independently or attached to larger formations, providing the eyes and ears of Blücher's armies during the rapid marches that characterized the 1813-1815 campaigns. 

From the forests of Saxony to the hedgerows around Waterloo, Jägers proved their worth as some of Prussia's finest light troops.
