This regiment represents Grenzers during the tumultuous Revolutionary Wars. Recruited from the Military Frontier territories bordering the Ottoman Empire, these soldier-farmers combined the discipline of regular infantry with exceptional skirmishing skills.
Grenzers drew from Croatian, Serbian, and Romanian communities where every able-bodied man served as both peasant and warrior, creating a permanent border defense system ideal for light infantry warfare.
These regiments fought across the Rhineland, Netherlands, and Italy during the First and Second Coalition Wars. TTheir frontier origins gave them exceptional fieldcraft and resilience, while elite sharpshooters armed with the Doppelstutzen (double-barreled rifle) provided devastating accurate fire against French officers and artillery crews.
