This battalion represents Austrian Hungarian infantry during the tumultuous Revolutionary Wars - the desperate struggle to contain Revolutionary France before Napoleon's rise. Hungarian regiments brought distinctive colorful dress and Magyar martial traditions to Habsburg armies during this period. They wore the Kaskett helmet and carried two standards - the Ordinarfahne (regimental colour) and Leibfahne (colonel's colour). The mounted dragoon officer represents a mounted officer.
These battalions fought across the Rhineland, Netherlands, and Italy during the First and Second Coalition Wars. They faced the armies of Dumouriez, Jourdan, and the young Bonaparte - learning hard lessons about Revolutionary warfare's new tempo and tactical flexibility.
