This battalion pack represents a French Line/Légère battalion in greatcoats, ideally suited for the gruelling campaigns of 1812 in Russia, 1813 in Germany, and 1814 in France. These formations endured some of the most challenging conditions in military history, from the frozen steppes to the desperate defence of the homeland.
The greatcoat became a universal campaign dress during these years, protecting against bitter cold in winter and cool relief in summer, compared to the tight-fitting habit-veste. Chronic supply issues meant the greatcoat increasingly served as the proxy uniform for extended operations.
This pack provides a complete line battalion of 38 figures, comprising 32 figures in march attack for close-order formations and six skirmishers.
