Historical Context

This regiment represents Prussian Landwehr cavalry during the Wars of Liberation and Waterloo campaign. When the nation rose against Napoleon in 1813, cavalry Landwehr drew from men with riding experience who brought their own horses and horsemanship to military service.

While less trained than regular cavalry, their patriotic motivation (or the cheapness of their lives) made them valuable for screening, reconnaissance, and garrison duties.
