Historical Context

This regiment represents Prussian Uhlans during the Wars of Liberation and Waterloo campaign. These were lance-armed light cavalry that, like the Hussar tradition from Hungary, brought Eastern European cavalry tactics to Central Europe. As the Polish tradition of lancer cavalry had shown the rest of Europe during the eighteenth century, the lance provided reach and shock power that proved effective against both cavalry and infantry, giving lancer regiments advantages in pursuit and on the charge.
