This battalion represents Austrian German infantry during the tumultuous Revolutionary Wars - the desperate struggle to contain Revolutionary France before Napoleon's rise. German regiments recruited from Austria, Bohemia, and Moravia formed the backbone of Habsburg armies during this period. They wore the distinctive Kaskett helmet and carried two standards - the Ordinarfahne (regimental colour) and Leibfahne (colonel's colour). The mounted dragoon officer represents a mounted officer.
These battalions fought across the Rhineland, Netherlands, and Italy during the First and Second Coalition Wars. They faced the armies of Dumouriez, Jourdan, and the young Bonaparte - learning hard lessons about Revolutionary warfare's new tempo and tactical flexibility.
